Lexie's work explores the materiality of digital media, the representation of women and the symbolic content of the subconscious through print, video, installation and performance. In this series she focuses in particular on the use of forest imagery that she collected at Voice of the Valley (a noise festival) in West Virginia. Through the process of data-moshing she creates strange broken images with a painterly quality to them. Being that most of the work is based around figures in landscapes, the pieces often times lend themselves to the academic motives of artists such as Andrew Wyeth and Jean-Baptiste Corot, while at the same time remaining relevant through the outlet of video and digital imaging.
